UK Pet Insurance Rewards and Perks in 2026: What Owners Actually Get

Pet-insurance extras are easier to compare when they are sorted by what they do, who can access them and how long they last. A video-vet service may help with an immediate care question. A behaviour consultation may suit an owner managing a recurring concern. An activity membership or discount solves a different problem. There is no single extras package that is objectively right for every household.

Start with the insurance itself. An annual limit, excess, waiting period and the remaining claim-eligibility rules determine what treatment can be insured and what an owner may have to pay. A useful extra can distinguish two otherwise suitable policies, but it cannot make unsuitable cover suitable. This comparison covers published schemes reviewed for 2026, not the entire UK market.

What matters at a glance

Care-related support sits closest to the reason for buying insurance, although a video call or consultation is still a service rather than insured treatment.

Access can depend on species, product and membership. A dog-only activity benefit has no value to a cat owner, while a service attached to a product that is closed to new business may not be available to a new buyer.

Continuity changes the maths. An ongoing multi-pet discount is not equivalent to an introductory saving that ends after 12 months.

Use remains personal. The practical value of any service, device or discount depends on whether the policyholder meets its conditions and actually uses it.

Start with extras that sit closest to pet care

For remote veterinary guidance, the useful comparison is access rather than branding. Waggel includes free, unlimited video-vet calls through Joii with every cat and dog policy, but the reviewed information does not state Joii's operating hours. More Than materials describe FirstVet as free and unlimited, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without reducing the policy's vet-fee allowance. Direct Line describes PawSquad as free for eligible policyholders and available around the clock.

These services can help an owner seek guidance, but they sit outside insured cover. They do not themselves make later examination or treatment eligible for a claim. Their value also depends on the owner's likely use. Someone who would call for early guidance may value remote access; someone who prefers to contact a familiar practice directly may use it rarely. In either case, the policy's veterinary-fee rules remain unchanged.

Professional support also differs by purpose. Every Waggel cat and dog policy includes free, unlimited behaviour and nutrition consultations through Companion Animal Wellness. Companion Animal Wellness, not Joii, provides those consultations, and they are separate services rather than insured behavioural or nutritional treatment. Every policyholder is also assigned a Customer Champion, described as a qualified veterinary nurse who helps with the practical claims process. That assistance does not promise that a claim will be accepted.

Membership access changes the value

Activity rewards are relevant only if the pet and owner qualify. Biscuit Plus is included with Waggel dog policies without an additional stated charge. The membership supplies a PitPat activity monitor, a sign-up bonus and a five-times points earning rate. Cat policies do not include it, so a cat owner can remove it from the comparison.

The dog-policy bundle is described as worth up to approximately £150 a year. That is a maximum stated value, not a guaranteed saving or return. Its real value depends on using the monitor and rewards, and current terms should be checked because values and conditions can change. Joii, Companion Animal Wellness, the Customer Champion and Biscuit Plus all sit alongside the insurance rather than forming part of insured policy cover.

A discount's duration matters as much as its headline rate

For a multi-pet household, compare the renewal position as well as the first premium. A percentage headline does not show the final price, and a cheaper first year can become a different proposition at renewal. Run each quote with the same pets and comparable cover, then note the full premium before and after any reduction. That keeps the reward separate from differences in limits, excesses and other terms.

ManyPets automatically applies a multi-pet discount on any plan, stated as up to 15%. The exact percentage within that range is not published in the reviewed material, but the discount is described as ongoing. Each animal still has a separate plan and separate cover limit.

Direct Line's online multi-pet discount is 12.5% for the first 12 months. It also gives new online customers 25% off for the first year. Where both conditions are met, the discounts are applied consecutively, not added into one percentage, and neither is presented as continuing after the introductory period. The reviewed Waggel offer has no multi-pet or new-customer pricing discount. These differences say nothing about which underlying quote will be lower.

Check that the route to an extra is still open

Published perks can outlive the route through which a customer obtained them. The reviewed More Than policy material mentions FirstVet, but RSA stopped writing new and renewal pet business during 2024 and sold the book to Admiral. Those materials do not establish whether a new buyer can currently purchase cover that includes FirstVet. A live quote is needed to check.

PawSquad is tied to Direct Line's Essential product. Essential is the only Direct Line pet-insurance product identified in the reviewed source as open to new customers; Advanced is not accepting new business. That product link matters as much as the service description.

No reward or perk scheme appeared in the reviewed materials for Petplan, Agria, Napo, Animal Friends or Sainsbury's Money. This is an absence from those materials, not proof that none is available through any product or channel. Availability, third-party providers, discount rates and membership terms can all change.

Match the extra to the owner who will use it

An owner who values out-of-hours guidance can give weight to services with stated 24-hour access, while recognising that the reviewed Joii hours were not established. Someone likely to use behaviour or nutrition consultations may value that access more than points. A dog owner interested in activity tracking can assess Biscuit Plus, while a cat owner cannot. A household insuring several pets can compare an ongoing discount with first-year reductions, then check the separate quote and cover for every animal.

That is a more useful comparison than awarding an extras winner. First choose policies whose limits, excesses, waiting periods and eligibility rules work for the pet and budget. Then confirm that the relevant service or membership is available, note any species or product restriction, and check whether the benefit continues. A perk may break a close tie between suitable policies. It should never outweigh the policy terms that govern a claim.
